PROJECT UPDATE AS AT APRIL 2024 FOR PRESENTATION TO POTENTIAL DONOR/INVESTOR
THE INSPIRATION
The concept drivers in Ukomu Igala Organization, meditating over the absence of a medium through which our rich culture and heritage which are fastly going into extinction due to globalisation and influence of foreign cultures saw a need for an indigenous Media House under the name – Inikpi Radio & Television to stimulate and enhance the socioeconomic, political and cultural growth of Kogi East, her citizens/residents and by extension, Kogi State and Nigeria at large
THE CONCEPT OF THE INIKPI RADIO AND TELEVISION
With the impact of globalisation that saw our people like other ethenic race growing fastly in population and sizes and also scattered in different locations within and outside Nigeria, the establishment of this project is seen as an apt modernisation and enhancement of the traditional Achokobia’s role with Okakachi as tool which was the medium of communication between the Traditional Rulers and their territorial subjects.
The concept also viewed the existence of the Media House as a social security measure. Security, education and community relations is enhanced through speedy access to information;
To showcase our rich culture in the face of over 300 ethenic groups in Nigeria competing for relevance on national and international space.
To reduce the huge cost of funding political campaigns – bill boards, posters, logistic of reaching out to the electorates in all parts of the State and beyond by Kogi East political leaders
To enhance the social economic and political awareness, status and growth of the people through organized media programs in both local and foreign languages in collaboration with government and other State and National partners
THE OWNERSHIP AND INVESTMENTS STRUCTURE
The Media House shall be owned by citizens of Kogi East
THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Out of a budget of #120m proposed for the establishment of the twin projects – The Radio and Television Stations, #11,500,000 has been realized so far from Igala sons and daughters.
The corporate name of the Media House – Inikpi Radio & Television Ltd has been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission
The Media House have a constituted Board of Trustees headed by Professor Armstrong Idachaba, former DG, Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation
The license for the Radio arm of the Media House has acquired.
A land for the Permanent Site has been identified at Egume in Dekina LGA of Kogi State
A house that will serve as Temporary office has been gotten in Anyigba, Dekina LGA, Kogi State.
WHAT NEXT?
Procurement of Equipments/Systems for installation and commencement of the Radio operations
Procurement of Logistics equipment such as Furniture, Cars, Telecommunication gadgets etc
Fund to cater for staffing and operations of the Radio Wing for one year gestation period.
Funds for the building of the Permanent Headquarters to accommodate both the Radio and Television Stations
Funds to kick start the licensing and building up of the Television wing.

The contribution of well meaning Igala sons and daughters as well as friends of the Kingdom either in cash or equipment as per the project estimate will be highly appreciated.
