The grande finale of the second edition of Baba Yara Memorial Cup is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, November 28, 2024. The annual football competition is powered by Hon. In following her passion to attend to the needs of as many as God Almighty gives her the power to do, she goes all out to the grassroots to meet the people where they need her care the most. In the same pursuit, as the Convener of Care For Life Initiative and Empowerment, tomorrow’s event is so dear to her heart.
The Baba Yara Memorial Cup 2024 which commenced on November 22nd is coming to an end tomorrow in grande finale where for teams will battle for gold. The teams in the final are The New Saint FC, OFU, Golden Boys Academy FC, Igalamela, Idah Football Club, Idah and Young Stars FC, Ibaji. The winning team will go home with N250,000. The 2nd place team will go home with N150,000 while the 3rd place team will get N100,000 and the team in the 4th position will take home a N50,000 reward.
Taking place at the Qua Iboe Primary School Field, Idah tomorrow, the green carpet starts by 2:00pm. The uniqueness of this competition is that it’s truly life changing as it showcases talents to the world and who knows where the breakthrough will come from for the participating footballers. It’s also a great networking platform for football scouts and enthusiasts. And, one of the most interesting thing is the choice of venue; this is purely about grassroots empowerment and community mobilization – in fact, this is about giving back to communities while intentionally bridging the widening gaps and building the future of the young generation for a better tomorrow.
Being intentional about the kind of tomorrow we want is exactly what the Barbara Eleojo Jitobo Foundation is doing in collaboration with One Kogi Project. In a clime that leaders are truly concerned about the goodness and future of their people, you will have at this event the heads of the local governments of the last four teams. These teams do not just play for themselves but they are simply representing their areas and people. Also, leaders need to show their supports for projects such as this to encourage both the organizers and participants.
By tomorrow, a winner will emerge. Let’s come and play together for a better future.
