The Senate Committee Chairman on Customs, Excise and Tariff, Senator Isah Jibrin (Echocho), was on an oversight visit with Chairman Senate Committee on Interior, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at their Headquarters in Abuja yesterday. The visit was part of the Committee’s mandate to ensure that security agencies are effectively fulfilling their roles in safeguarding the nation. The Committee presence signifies the importance of oversight in enhancing the operational efficiency of the NSCDC.
During the visit, Senator Isah Jibrin, alongside his colleagues, engaged with key officials of the NSCDC to assess their current activities and the challenges they face. Their discussions highlighted various operational hurdles, inadequate funding with effort to improve equipment to tackle emerging security threats.
The Senator emphasized the necessity of addressing these issues to bolster the NSCDC’s capacity in maintaining internal security and supporting community safety.
Senator Echocho at the oversight, reiterated Senate’s commitment to providing the necessary legislative support for the NSCDC, called for a collaborative approach between the government and security agencies to ensure that they are well-equipped and adequately funded.
