ECHOCHO: THE IGNORED BUT MOST CRUCIAL SIDES OF HIS JOURNEY – 2024 IN RETROSPECT
As the new year begins, expectations are high from all corners, despite the challenges that persist. For Senator Jibrin Isah (Echocho), the demands are equally steep, but he has long grown accustomed to weathering storms, no matter the turbulence. His focus remains firmly on his destination and deliverables, steering clear of the “noise” often associated with occupying such an exalted office on behalf of the people of Kogi East.
At present, many have become fixated on their perceptions of Echocho, choosing to see only what they want to believe. Unfortunately, this narrow view has led to the neglect of the most crucial aspects of his efforts in the Senatorial District. Unlike many of his peers, Echocho has distinguished himself through tangible actions on the ground, far beyond mere rhetoric or publicity stunts. While reporting accomplishments is important, doing the work itself is paramount, and Echocho appears to understand this deeply.
The year 2024 marked a turning point in showcasing the projects and efforts of Senator Jibrin Isah (Echocho) in Kogi East. It challenged many to shed sentimental biases and address issues objectively. As a result, the conversation has shifted toward healthier and more constructive criticism, allowing for a clearer assessment of his performance.
In the first quarter of 2024, his media engagements highlighted many of his projects and interventions. By the second quarter, he had launched a strategic initiative to support young graduate entrepreneurs with seed capital, aiming to help them grow their businesses. This program was designed to enable these entrepreneurs to network, expand, and access additional funding from relevant sources as their ventures evolved.
Throughout the year, nearly every month saw him training and empowering young people across the Senatorial District. Periodically, he extended direct financial assistance to the less privileged and needy in all nine local government areas.
When questions arose about certain published projects, Echocho took proactive steps by revisiting, reactivating, and handing over these projects to the respective communities and local governments. This effort altered public perception, prompting many to reevaluate their opinions about his performance as a Senator.
As the new year unfolds, Senator Jibrin Isah remains focused on attracting meaningful development to the land rather than seeking undue publicity. However, constructive engagement with him as a collective body remains essential, just as he is committed to maintaining open channels of communication with the people at all levels.
