HEADING FOR $1TRILLION DOLLAR ECONOMY: A PEEP INTO PRESIDENT TINUBU’S ECONOMIC STRATEGIES THROUGH THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY THE HON. MINISTER OF STEEL DEVELOPMENT, PRINCE SHUAIBU ABUBAKAR AUDU
Yesterday, Thursday, 30 January 2025 witnessed a historical groundbreaking ceremony at Ajaokuta. It was about the 97mmscf/d capacity 5 mini-LNG plants in the Ajaokuta Steel Territory led by the NNPC Limited and other partners.
The Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu attended given the significant roles of his ministry in the project. In unison with the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo and other key stakeholders in the sector, Prince Shauibu said the establishment of the new LNG plants in Kogi State is a game-changer for the country’s energy sector. The plants will help position Nigeria as a key player in the global LNG market he emphasized. This development he assured will position the country to achieve President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of growing the economy to $1trillion dollars by 2030.
The Honourable Minister whilst delivering his address at the historic event said that situating the 5 Mini-LNG projects within the Ajaokuta Environ will help expedite the concept of setting up an Industrial Park in the Ajaokuta Steel Territory which will also have a Gas-Park and Free Trade Zone as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.
The Ministry of Steel Development’s role is very critical in the establishment of the 5 mini LNG Plants as it provides the relevant environment and encouragement through the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, adding that the company granted NNPC Limited and its partners sites for the mini LNG projects, which aligns with the Federal Government objectives of leveraging gas for prosperity for the people of Nigeria.
The Honourable Minister assures Nigerians that efforts are on to ensure the revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited. Prince Shauibu Abubakar Audu’s speech is reassuring of light at the end of the tunnel.
