One of the three Representatives from Kogi East is Hon. David Idris Zacharias, the member who represents Idah federal constituency at the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja. In this 10th Assembly, upon his announcement as Chairman, committee on FCT Judiciary, Rt. Hon. David Idris Zacharias took full responsibility of his statutory obligation to use his office as the People’s Representative, at the Green chamber in delivering his official tasks faithfully and alleviating the plights of his constituents.
The style with which he communicates his visions for his constituency is clear. The communication is creatively delivered and consistently remains unparalleled and has continued to set the pace for other lawmakers from Kogi East in the 10th Assembly. LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES:
CHAIRMANSHIP OF THE COMMITTEE ON FCT JUDICIARY
Hon. David Idris Zacharias is also a member of Petroleum Resources (mid stream), Navy, Oil and Gas, Foreign affairs, Petroleum Resources (Up stream), FCT, Banking Regulation, Delegated Legislation, Petroleum Training Fund, Special Duties, Women Affairs and Power.
He has been actively involved in oversight functions, training, capacity building, and policy formulation.
HEALTH
Provision of quality healthcare services and supplies of drugs to different hospitaIs in Idah Federal Constituency. Renovation of cottage hospitals in Aloma, Ejule and Other Government own hospitals across the constituency.
INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Grading and modernization of Owowolo road in Ofu Local Government. Facilitation of Ochadamu to Ogidibeje road repairs and maintenance. Installation of over 2,000 solar street light across the four local Government of the constituency to ameliorate lightening challenges in the Constituency.
JOB CREATION
Engagement of constituents in various government services, including the Police, Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Facilitation of law school admissions and Judiciary service roles. Several sons and daughters of Idah Federal Constituency have been engaged.
WATER SUPPLY
Installation of several motorized water boreholes to address water scarcity in Idah Federal Constituency
EDUCATION
Scholarships to over 1,000 students for WAEC and NECO examinations. Distribution of free JAMB forms to over 200 students. Distribution of educational resources materials such as books, pens, tables and chairs.
YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Skills training and startup capital for youths. Financial support totaling over 60 million Naira for women that are engaged in petty trading across the constituency.
These efforts highlight Hon. Zacharias’ commitment to improving the lives of his constituents through comprehensive, tailored and targeted interventions in various sectors.
